Tutoring for Dyslexia & Learning Disabilities

“As a parent, I have always felt that my son was weak in the area of reading….I have always had him tutored, but not until I went to ESGE did I ever see a change in his skill level. In under three months…, I now notice my son reading and having the confidence and the tools to do it. It is truly amazing…I also feel this is the only place that pinpointed his specific weaknesses. There is no better feeling in the world then knowing you are giving your children what they need. I can’t say enough about how grateful and how thrilled I am. I feel that my prayers have been answered by all the angels that work at ESGE.”

Educational Therapy is a type of tutoring that is more complex than just addressing an academic concern.  Tutors must be qualified to work with students who demonstrate a wide range of exceptionalities, not found in typically developing students. To help students uncover their best learning styles and strategies to maximize their potential, tutors work on academic content and present material in a modified manner depending on the students’ needs. Examples of students who would benefit from Educational Therapy are:

  • a student with diagnosed or undiagnosed learning difficulties which are hampering achievement in the classroom setting.
  • a student with attention deficits (ADD/ADHD) who struggles with concentration.
  • a student who needs self-esteem building or increased motivation.
  • a student with dyslexia who needs specialized instruction from tutors trained in the Orton/Wilson methodology.
  • a student who needs improvement with concentration, memory, and time management.

Relationships between tutors and students are strong and long lasting.  The below letter is an example of how Educational Therapy can help students achieve in both academic gains and self esteem!  To learn more or schedule, please feel free to contact the office or email Megan Burke at megan.burke@esgetutoring.com.

Dear Mrs. Jan,

I just want to thank you for everything you have done for me over the last ten years.  You have helped me learn how to spell and read and assist me with my homework, studying for tests, quizzes, writing papers, and with worksheets.  I remember when I started with the tutoring sessions. I didn’t even know how to hold a pencil or pen the right way, but you taught me the correct way and I have written that way ever since.  You are the best tutor that a student could ask for.  You have been very patient with me and I really appreciate that.  Also, you have never forgotten my birthday!  Everything that you have taught me I will use when I go away to college this fall, as well as for the rest of my life.  I am very lucky to have had a tutor as knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated to their job and to helping their students as much as you.  I could not have gotten accepted to Southern without your help and guidance.  So once again, thank you for everything.  We should keep in touch throughout the summer and into the future.

Sincerely,

“Your college bound student”
